SAL TALON
About Sal Talon:

Experience dramatic and soulful tunes written by a young spiritual woman. Sal Talon weeps on stage to original songs about mental health, philosophy, and her search for the divine.

Sal was born in Alabama in 1991, and lived in numerous cities across the U.S. with her father after a long-winded custody battle. She taught herself to play piano to cope with being separated from her mother. In 2004, she moved to Toronto where she and her mom were finally reunited.

As a teenager, she expressed her struggles with anxiety and depression through the songs she wrote. To hide her pain, she kept her songs and her mental health issues to herself. But her demons grew stronger, and she learned that the only way to free herself from her pain was to release it through art.  Sal is now an advocate for creative expression within her many communities and sees musical performance as an act of giving. Her pursuit in music is to be as engaging as possible, while still maintaining the “creative vision” that comes to her when she writes.

Performances:

Sal started performing weekly at the Paddock Open Mic in Toronto in 2015. In 2016, she began playing sets. She opened for Total Gadjos, and played opening sets for Evan Pang at the Central and again at the Cavern. She frequently hosted private jams in the room of her shared apartment, until she was eventually kicked out by her roommate. In March 2017 she played a 40 minute set for an event called Music City North.
